Women's Ministry

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

Proverbs 31:25

We offer a variety of opportunities for women to grow closer to Christ, become active in community service,
and connect in small groups. You will be blessed as you to connect in any of these ways.
We invite you to explore these opportunities or contact us for more information.

Who We Are

The Women's Ministry is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. All women of the church, both visitors and members, are invited to our Women's Ministry Gatherings held on the last Tuesday evening every other month.  We also have four Circles (Small Groups) who meet monthly.

missions

The Women's Ministry of First Frisco feels it is very important to mission to our local community with not only our donations, but with our time.  Each circle chooses its own particular mission focus. There are opportunities for you to help behind the scenes or to help deliver and interact with the recipients.  We support a number of various missions and ministries.

Women's Ministry gatherings

We encourage all women of the church and their friends to attend our Women's Ministry Gatherings which are held on a Tuesday evening every other month.  You do not need to be a member of a circle to attend. We enjoy an inspiring speaker, a delicious meal, and review any business.

women's ministry circles (small groups)

All women, both visitors and members, are invited to join one of the Circles (small groups). We have four circles, Marion Thompson Sisters of Faith, Mary Martha Circle, Silver Sombrero Sisters, and Sisters of Esther. To learn more or find out which circle might be a good fit for you, contact Terry Williams, twilliams284@tx.rr.com, Women's Ministry President.

Marion Thompson Sisters of Faith

Leader: Trisha Kraushaar,
tmkraushaar@sbcglobal.net
The Marion Thompson Sisters of Faith Circle meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 9:30 am, (with the exceptions that may conflict with the local school calendar) in Room 1 of the Ministries Building, to study and enjoy a deep fellowship.

Our main activity during the meetings is to discuss a Biblical book and its scriptural significance to our daily lives. Our members of all ages bring a rich perspective to life's lessons and a wonderful wisdom is gained in every meeting. We welcome any woman who is interested in fun and meaningful fellowship, prayer support, and a desire to be of service. We can't wait for you to join us!

Mary Martha

Leader: Andi Case,
 a.j.case@sbcglobal.net
Meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 10 am - noon in the Loft (2nd floor of the Sanctuary bldg.)
After a devotional study of women of the Bible, members complete a service/craft project led by one of the members. Each member pays $5 per month to cover the cost of craft supplies. Craft/service items are chosen for use by the church. Examples from the last year include aprons for the church kitchens, Christmas trees for First Frisco college freshmen, favors for the Women's Retreat, and holiday themed gifts for retirement homes.

Silver Sombrero Sisters

Leader: Sherrie Burke, sherrie4814@att.net
We are single women 55 + years old and women caregivers who live a single life style.

Meetings are on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10:00 AM and are typically in the Gathering Area (just outside the Sanctuary). There is a “meet and greet”, a devotion, reports and any relative business. Sometimes there is a speaker; other times, a social event or service project. An optional catered luncheon follows.

There are also special interest groups: the Sunday “lunch bunch” meets after the 11 AM service; there is a movie-goers group, a book club, a quilters group, a crafters workshop and an arts, theatre and music group. Check with group leader. Some may have changed due to the pandemic.

Sisters of Esther

Leader:  Linda Sockwell,  ljsockwe@att.net
The Sisters of Esther meet the fourth Saturday of each month at 11:00 am at a tea room or restaurant.  Each monthly meeting opens with a brief devotional; however, our main focus will be fellowship and support.

The Sisters of Esther invites all women of all ages, married or single.  We believe all women need girlfriends to walk through life's ups and downs.  We are here for "such a time as this."

Wednesday morning study
(fall & spring)

The Wednesday morning studies are designed in length and format for the busy woman of today. The sessions are generally 1 ½ hours in length, with lessons to complete throughout the week so that there is time to digest the material that is discussed, in manageable portions. The format of the class is generally a video and/or facilitator presentation with questions, discussions, and activities from the group.

Past studies include video and book studies by strong Christian teachers, facilitated by the Pastor: Malachi (Lisa Harper); War Room (Priscilla Shirer); The Quest (Beth Moore) and Expecting to See Jesus (Anne Graham Lotz).

These studies are designed for us to see the Lord and to study scripture in a fresh way, so that each participant can have a genuine, life-changing experience

mothers of preschoolers (mops)

Bi-Monthly Mondays, 9:30 - 11:30 am (during the school year)

We're a fun, supportive, laid-back group of preschool mommas that do life together! Moms of kids ages 0 to Pre-Kinder meet about two Mondays a month in the Loft from 9:30-11:30. We enjoy a variety of inspiring speakers, engaging discussions, and fun activities. One thing remains constant, we are a sisterhood that truly supports each other! In addition to our bi-monthly meetings, additional group activities are also planned like our Moms Night Out get-togethers and pre-scheduled daytime group playdates for the kids. We also support various community outreach events and ministries.

Registration Fees:
Our dues are $120 per year with part going to MOPS International and part staying with our local chapter.  MOPS International: We pay membership to MOPS International. Each member receives a subscription to the quarterly print magazine, access to mama meetups, and bimonthly encouraging texts. Our fee helps offset the group meeting costs such as guest speakers, events, and curriculum. We strive to keep costs minimal since we know first hand that being a mother of preschoolers usually means having limited funds.
