Message from Bishop Leah Hidde Gregory

In Lesson 7 of Spirit-Filled Methodism, Bishop Gregory points us to the heart of our mission: sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Evangelism is not about human persuasion but about Spirit-empowered witness. Jesus promised His disciples, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses… to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

From the first disciples to the Methodist movement today, Spirit-filled believers have carried the gospel far and wide. Evangelism is not reserved for clergy or missionaries alone—every Christian is a witness. The Holy Spirit equips and empowers us to share the saving love of Jesus with passion, boldness and joy.

  • How has the Holy Spirit helped you share your faith with others?
  • What does it mean to be a witness in your daily day life?
  • How can we, as spirit-filled Methodists, reach those who have not yet heard the gospel?

Who in your life needs to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ? Pray for the people on your heart and ask the Holy Spirit to show you opportunities to be a witness.
